SLAUGHTERING CENTRES

Anyone intending to operate a Slaughtering Centre is required to obtain a license from the BDFA.  The licensee must comply with regulations under the Wholesome Meat Order 2011 (Amendment) 2020.  

However, before being licensed under BDFA, the licensee must have already been registered with the Registry of Companies and Business Names (ROCBN) Division, Ministry of Finance and Economy (Business Names Act [Chapter 92]), and incorporated under the Companies Act (Chapter 39).

Which Slaughtering Centre will need to obtain a license?

Currently BDFA is in Phase I of the implementation of licensing of slaughtering centres. Phase I includes slaughtering centres that have an average production capacity of 5,000 chickens per day or an average of 30-50 cows or goats per day. 

Such slaughtering centres are required to obtain a license from BDFA. 

How to Apply

1. Submit application form to BDFA (Form G)

2. Submit required documents to BDFA (Checklist for application of license for slaughtering center)

3. Make payment through Counter Payment / Bank Transfer

4. License approval and issuance

Validity of License

This license is valid for ONE (01) year from the date it is issued.

Renewal of License

The renewal period will be THREE (03) months before the expiry date stated on the existing license.

Fees for Slaughtering Centre Licences 

The annual fees for obtaining and renewing license to operate slaughtering centres are as follows :

Surveillance and Monitoring of Slaughtering Centres

Authorized officers from the BDFA may, at any time, enter and inspect licensed slaughtering centres to monitor their operations and ensure that such establishments adhere to the regulations set out in the Wholesome Meat Order 2011 (Amendment) 2020. 

Outcomes and findings from such inspections will be reported to the respected licensee for any necessary follow-up actions if applicable.
