The Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) is looking is looking to fill for the role of Technical Officer in the Regulatory Group. Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in food sciences or relevant field.
  • Qualification or experience in law or public policies is an advantage.
  • Can work independently and as a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and review food safety standards and guidelines that complement activities under BDFA.
  • Review and update relevant food safety resources including checklist/guidelines/standard operating procedures and other documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessment and situational analysis related to food safety in Brunei, regionally and internationally.
  • Identifying, collecting, maintaining and updating relevant food safety resources in relation to policies, standards, guidelines and programs under BDFA in a library accessible to the Regulatory Group.
  • Collect and compile relevant food safety data, statistics and materials.
  • Involved in other related tasks as directed by Head of Department as and when necessary.

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or Agricultural Sciences or relevant field.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable on food safety related to food of plant origin including pesticide residues such as analysis and results interpretation, and other relevant tasks.
  • Knowledge or experience in food legislations or public policies is an advantage.
  • Experience in drafting clear, concise and structured scientific reports.
  • Can work independently and as a team.
  • Have excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct food safety surveillance and monitoring activities.
  • Collect and compile relevant food safety and relevant data.
  • Act as resource person for food safety issues particularly on food of plant origin including pesticide residues.
  • Develop or facilitate the development of relevant Standard Operating Procedures, guidelines and other documentation.
  • Conduct food safety projects and initiatives.
  • Involved in other related tasks as directed by Head of Department as and when necessary.

  • Minimum qualification of National Diploma in any relevant field.
  • Can work independently and as a team.
  • Excellent analytical skills and have an investigative mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compliance monitoring and enforcement activities in accordance with food legislations.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly reports and statistics.
  • Assist in review and update of relevant checklist/guidelines/standard operating procedures.
  • Involved in other related tasks as directed by Head of Department as and when necessary.
