background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); font-style: var(--body_typography-font-style,normal); letter-spacing: var(--body_typography-letter-spacing);\">IMPORTING FOOD FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-10\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When importing food for commercial purposes, the importer should ensure that the product meets the safety, quality and labeling standards laid down in Brunei Darussalam\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bdfa.gov.bn\/ms\/legislations\/\">laws and regulations<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to importation, the importer must ensure that the product is under BDFA\u2019s jurisdiction. Some products such as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cjamu\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, fresh aquatic products (fish, molluscs etc.), live animals, fresh fruits &amp; vegetables come under the jurisdiction of other Government Agencies.\u00a0 Importers may <a href=\"https:\/\/bdfa.gov.bn\/ms\/feedback\/\">contact the BDFA<\/a> for further clarification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A food product that is confirmed to be under the purview of the BDFA must first be Registered with the\u00a0 BDFA via the Food Import Registration System. Once assessed and approved by the Authorized Officers, a Food Import Registration Reference Number will be assigned. This includes the examination of food or systems for control of food, raw materials, processing, and distribution including in-process and finished product testing, in order to verify that they conform to requirements. Applicant(s) should first make arrangements with BDFA\u00a0for inspection at least one month prior to the estimated date of exportation.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant should prepare the following documents:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a letter requesting for the issuance of the Export Certificate required and for premise inspection;<\/li>\n<li>a valid laboratory analysis relevant to food safety (valid for 1 year from date of report until date at time of application);<\/li>\n<li>a full color, printed copy of the product label \/ packaging artwork or pictures of all sides of the food packaging;<\/li>\n<li>a copy of the company\u2019s business license;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For now, there is <strong>no fee<\/strong> charged for application and issuance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><style
