Following the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority\u2019s (BDFA) earlier Press Release on \u201cInformation regarding infant formulas over potential Cereulide toxin risk\u201d dated 25th January 2026 and based on the latest information issued by the neighbouring country, a further product recall has been issued as a precautionary measure following to the detection of cereulide toxin.<\/strong> The details of the affected products are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

In this regard, the BDFA confirms that, following proactive surveillance and communication with official local importers, all the affected brands or batches are not imported commercially into this country.<\/strong> However, members of the public who have purchased the product overseas and brought it into the country for personal use or purchased the product through an online platform are advised to stop using the product immediately.<\/p>\n

Cereulide is a toxin produced by the bacteria Bacillus cereus that causes gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhoea. Symptoms develop within 30 minutes to six hours after consumption and usually resolve within a day; vulnerable groups such as infants and persons with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of developing complications. Those who have consumed the product and are unwell should seek prompt medical attention.<\/p>\n

BDFA would like to remind all that under Section 9 of subsection (1), subparagraph (i) of the Public Health (Food) Act (Chapter 182), any person who prepares, sells, or imports a food item that can harm health can be imprisoned for five years, fined, or both.
