SINGAPORE, 8-11 SEPTEMBER 2025 – The Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) recently paid an official visit to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) to reinforce bilateral cooperation in food safety. The visit served as a platform for information exchange, capacity building, and sharing of best practices, while exploring areas for future collaboration.
Key discussions covered food safety policy and legal frameworks, inspection and sampling of raw meat consignments, methodologies and criteria for consignment rejection; risk-based inspection systems, and food safety communication strategies. Focus was also placed on commodity inspection and sampling across the food value chain, traceability of raw and processed food, and food safety requirements for small and micro enterprises.
The visit produced both short-term outcomes, including knowledge sharing and recommendations to improve existing SOPs, and long-term outcomes, such as opportunities for training, meetings, and stronger communication channels between BDFA and SFA.
Overall, the engagement underscores BDFA’s commitment to advancing food safety standards through international partnerships and knowledge exchange.
